Doctors and physical therapists say they often see patients during the early part of the year with injuries—some of them serious—stemming from New Year’s resolutions. Not only can such injuries lead to expensive medical bills, they may also waste cash shelled out for fitness gear and gym memberships.

“People tend to get super excited when they make their resolutions,” said Dr. Derek Ochiai, an orthopaedic surgeon in Arlington, Va. “But going from zero to 60 in a workout regimen can set you up for a lot of problems.”

Injuries from exercise and exercise equipment sent 459,978 people to the emergency room in 2012, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Modern medicine can be a truly amazing thing, extending and in sometimes outright saving the lives of people who would otherwise meet untimely ends. For one man who lived some 2,000 years ago, doctors arrived many centuries too late, but his remains have gotten plenty of attention from medical experts anyway.

The man’s body, long mummified and found in an Egyptian tomb, was recently given a full CT scan at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York, in the hopes of shining some light on how the individual died. Remarkably, doctors were actually able to diagnose the long-dead man — who has been nicknamed “Hen” — and explain the circumstances of his demise. As it turns out, he fell victim to an ailment that still plagues us today: cancer.

On Saturday night Synergy Radiology had its Annual Christmas Party on Sydney Harbour. But this year’s festivities also marked something significant- Synergy also celebrated its 10 year anniversary!

Staff from all sites, reporting radiologists and the Synergy Radiology partners; Dr Tej Dugal, Dr Pradnya Dugal, Dr John Ly, Dr Brian Lam, Dr Craig Harris, Dr John Ly and Dr Melvin Chew and their families got together for an evening of fine dining, dancing and laughs while watching the sunset over Sydney Harbour on the Starship Sydney.

In 2007, Synergy Radiology established themselves with the opening of Norwest Medical Imaging in Bella Vista. Since then, with the hard work and commitment from all the staff, the business has grown to include multiple sites in Sydney’s Inner West and Norwest regions, with its newest site Lakemba Medical Imaging opening just last month.

Over the years Synergy Radiology has developed a trusting relationship with referring practitioners from all over Sydney and have been recognised as one of the state’s most comprehensive medical imaging services, with Norwest Medical Imaging being announced as winners of the Best Health Improvement Service 2017 at the Local Business Awards.

The Bureau of Meteorology have released a Climate Outlook Overview which compares the past few summer months to the upcoming summer climate of 2017/2018.

• The summer (December to February) rainfall outlook, issued 30 November 2017, shows no strong swing towards a wetter or drier conditions for most of Australia.
• December is likely to be wetter than average for southeast Australia, extending up into southwest Queensland.
• Summer daytime temperatures are likely to be warmer than average.
• Summer nights are likely to be warmer than average.
